Heavy rains likely in Kerala till Nov 6, Yellow alert in 8 districts tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The presence of cyclonic circulation over the North coast of Tamil Nadu and adjacent regions is expected to bring heavy rains across Kerala till November 6, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed in a bulletin. The adjoining trough run across Tamil Nadu and Kerala towards the Southeast Arabian Sea, it said.

IMD has also sounded a warning on isolated thunderstorms and lightning strikes on these days.

"Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely to continue over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe during 02nd–06th November," reads the IMD alert.

In wake of this, Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has cautioned the public to stay vigilant and take necessary measures to avert tragedy.

IMD has sounded a yellow alert in various districts for the next two days.
