Kochi: The Customs Department has issued notice to Ayyappan, the Assistant Private Secretary of Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan to appear for interrogation.

Ayyappan has been asked to appear at the customs office in Kochi by 11 am on Tuesday.

Earlier, Mathrubhumi News had reported the news that Speaker Sreeramakrishnan would be summoned for interrogation in connection with the Dollar smuggling case. It was reported that Speaker handed over a bag to gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh and Sarith at an apartment in Thiruvananthapuram.

Swapna and Sarith had stated in court that Speaker Sreeramakrishnan instructed them to hand over the bag to the UAE Consulate General’s office.

Based on this statement, the Customs interrogated 2 drivers at the consulate on Monday. It is following this that Customs officials issued the notice to the Speaker's Assistant Private Secretary.
