Customs seize 2 kg gold smuggled in microwave oven at Kannur airport
Kannur: Within one month after the inauguration of Kannur International Airport, a gold smuggling attempt has been foiled by the customs department at the airport. The officials seized two kg gold which was being smuggled.
The gold that was hidden inside a microwave oven was found from a passenger identified as Muhammed Shan who arrived in Air India Express flight from Dubai. The customs officers are interrogating the person.
The person was nabbed by 9 pm on Tuesday at the airport. The gold smuggling attempt took place within few days after the airport was inaugurated on December 9.
