Kochi: The Customs Department has sought extension of Chief Minister’s former Principal Secretary, M Sivasankar's custody for seven more days.

Customs told the court that they have recovered one of the two phones which was hidden by Sivasankar and that they have to find one more.

Sivasankar had stated that he had only one phone with him. However, this was proven wrong in the investigation and it was revealed that the IAS officer used two other phones as well. Customs recovered one of these phones the other day.

The Customs department will name Sivasankar as an accused in the Dollar smuggling case as well. Customs told the court that Swapna Suresh has given crucial statements against him. Customs has also decided to take Swapna Suresh and Sarith into custody along with M Sivasankar.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers are collecting details from Customs Department regarding the incident in which cargo packages were released without examination.
