Customs raids Monson's house in Kaloor

Kochi: Customs here has conducted a raid at the house of Monson Mavunkal’s in Kaloor on Tuesday. It was in view of a complaint over cheating in the pretext of a luxury-car deal, the raid has been held.

Earlier, Crime Branch seized a number of luxurious vehicles during a raid at his house in Kaloor and Cherthala. The vehicles seized were registered in other states. In fact, Customs held raid by considering this factor too.

A fraud worth Rs seven crores in the luxury car deal was reported in the complaint registered with the police. Later, the case has been transferred to the Crime Branch.

In the meantime, the Kerala Forest Department has been conducting a raid at the house of Monson Mavungal following indications that he is in possession of ivory at his residence in Kalloor.

The raid is currently taking place at Monson Mavungal's residence at Vyloppilly lane in Kaloor. In a video footage of Monson’s antique collection, a picture of a chair with ivory attached to it was spotted at his house.

The forest department is checking whether the ivory is original or a replica of it. They also examine whether the self-styled antique collector possesses any other illegal items too. Meanwhile, Monson has been admitted to Ernakulam General Hospital due to high blood pressure.
