Customs move court seeking custody of accused in Karipur gold smuggling case

Kochi: Customs officials approached the Manjeri court to seek custody of the accused in the Karipur gold smuggling case. The Customs demanded custody of the accused, including main accused Sufiyan, for about 14 days for further interrogation.

Police arrested as many as 17 people in connection with the investigation into the Ramanattukara accident case. The customs wanted a detailed interrogation into this.

The Customs feels that gold was smuggled for Sufiyan and Arjun Aayanki and Yusuf came to the airport to steal the illegal gold from them. Customs had interrogated Arjun Aayanki the next day and are mulling to quiz Kodi Suni too who is lodged in jail at present.

The accused, arrested by the police, are in remand now and the Customs will take them into custody for further interrogation.
