Customs gets court permission to arrest M Sivasankar in gold smuggling case

The Customs said that it has obtained evidence to prove the bureaucrat’s role in the smuggling activities.

Kochi: The Customs has got permission to arrest M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the Chief Minister who was arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case. The permission was granted by Ernakulam Sessions Court on Monday in this regard.

The Customs officials said that it has obtained enough evidence to prove the bureaucrat’s role in the smuggling activities.

Also, Customs has added the name of Sivasankar in the accused list.

Meanwhile, the court rejected Sivasankar's bail plea in connection with this case.

Sivasankar was arrested by Enforcement Directorate on October 28 in connection with the gold smuggling case.
