Customs department to send notice to Lokanath Behera

Kochi: Customs department will send a notice to state police chief, Lokanath Behera, based on an interview where he claimed that police handed over details regarding smuggling gangs in the state to investigation agencies.

Lokanath Behera had said this in an interview given to a news organisation. The notice will be sent asking for all details in custody of state police based on Section 151 of customs law. Behera had said that police had handed over the details to NIA.

Customs authorities said that he is bound to hand over the details to them as well. This claim was repeated by an MP of one of the left parties. CISF have clearly documented that they have not received any detail regarding the gold smuggling case from state police.
