Customs department seeks details of foreign visits of a top political leader
Thiruvananthapuram: Customs department has sought details on the foreign trips made by an important political leader other than Minister KT Jaleel. The Customs department is preparing a special questionnaire to interrogate him. This is to bring more clarity into the allegations regarding the connection between top political leaders in the state and the gold smuggling case.
Documents regarding the transactions entered by various departments with foreign community organizations will be sought from the protocol department. Other than Swapna Suresh and her gang, there are two more gangs working similarly and are based in Thiruvananthapuram.
However, the other gangs did not receive help that Swapna Suresh or Sarith received from various sources. However, they collected money from political leaders and invest in gold smuggling. Customs department has been informed that the profit they get out of these transactions is invested in foreign countries. No top government official or minister can make any foreign trip without the permission of the government. Customs authorities stated that some of these foreign visits done without the knowledge of the government will come under the purview of the investigation.
