Thiruvananthapuram: The timeline for the introduction of revamped textbooks in Kerala schools has been approved. A meeting of the steering committee and the curriculum core committee chaired by general education minister V Sivankutty gave the nod to the proposal.
Students in preschool, classes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 will be taught using new text books in the 2024-2025 academic year. Students of classes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, will get the new set of books in the academic year 2025-2026.
The position papers for the curriculum revision will be completed by January 31. The curriculum framework will be published on March 31. The preparation of the new textbooks will begin by April. The first phase of textbook revision will be completed by October 31. The minister has directed officials to strictly follow the timeline.
The minister said that the curriculum would preserve constitutional values. He added that the government is planning to prepare the curriculum by ensuring the participation of people from all sections of society.
Sivankutty took to Twitter and said that reform activities were being carried out in a transparent manner.
