Curfew in Aluva cluster from midnight; Minister terms situation ‘highly critical’
Kochi: In the wake of drastic increase in Covid cases, a curfew has been imposed in Aluva municipality and 7 panchayats from Wednesday midnight. Speaking to media, Minister VS Sunilkumar said that the situation is highly critical in Aluva and nearby areas as number of contact cases is on the rise.
Curfew has been imposed in Keezhmadu, Alangad, Karumalloor, Choornikkara, Chengamanad, Edathala and Kadungalloor panchayats apart from Aluva municipality. All these areas are considered as a single large community cluster.
In these areas, wholesale trade of items will be permitted from morning 7 am to 9 am and retail sale from 10 am to 2 pm. Medical stores can function 24 hours.
Keezhmadu and Aluva municipality were earlier declared as containment zones. But as contact cases increased and spread to nearby areas, they were brought under a large community cluster and curfew was imposed.
