Thodupuzha: Within hours after news circulated about wild jumbo Chakkakomban getting hit by a car in Idukki, certain fraudsters have been spotted spreading fake news cards seeking medical assistance for the tusker.
The poster cards carry the logo of ‘Mathrubhumi News’ and aim to crowdfund money for the treatment of Chakkakomban, which met with an accident the other day. However, it may be noted that Mathrubhumi News does not have initiated such a campaign and legal action will be evoked against those responsible for spreading such fake news.
In the social media card, the name of the account has been given as ‘CMDRF’. The card also carries a screenshot of the accident news story and bank account details. It appeals to netizens to contribute to the fund.
The incident came to the attention of Mathrubhumi News after a Kollam native alerted about the circulation.
Earlier, there were reports about certain social media groups launching fund collection drives to pool money to bring the translocated tusker Arikomban back to Chinnakanal. Reportedly, a probe was also launched into the alleged matter.
