Crow strike damages engine; Maveli Express delayed for 1.5 hours
Thalassery: The Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Maveli Express was held at Thalassery railway station for one-and-a-half hours on Friday morning after a crow hit the engine of the train and damaged it. The train resumed its journey after another engine was brought from Kannur.
When Maveli Express reached Thalassery railway station at 4.55 in the morning, a crow hit and damage the pantograph, the apparatus which connects the train’s engine with the overhead power line. Later, a diesel engine was brought from Kannur and was attached to Maveli Express. Following this, the train resumed journey at 6.35 am.
Meanwhile, Chennai-Mangaluru train which was supposed to arrive on first platform at 5.30 pm was shifted to the middle track. The passengers could board this train only after stepping down onto the first track. Considering the situation, the train stopped at the station for 10 minutes to ensure that all passengers were safely on board.
