Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Crime Branch unit will investigate the mysterious death of young director Nayana Surya.

Though the incident happened in 2019, the police were unable to crack the case. However, four years after the death, her friends expressed strong doubts saying it was murder. Further, recent articles published by Mathrubhumi spurred interest in the case, leading to Crime Branch announcing probe into the case.

Further, Mathrubhumi released the post-mortem report pointing out that she died by strangulation.

Nayana Surya (28), former assistant of Lenin Rajendran, was found dead in her house in Thiruvananthapuram on February 24, 2019.

Nayana was an assistant to Lenin for more than 10 years. She directed the film ‘Pakshikalude Manam’ in the anthology titled Red Cross. She has also directed several ad films.

She was found dead a month after the death of Lenin. The initial conclusion was that she had killed herself due to depression as she was undergoing treatment. Police said she fainted due to sugar variation and later succumbed as she did not get help on time.
