Crime branch freezes Rs 18 cr in Maradu flat builders’ accounts

After the supreme court ordered to attach the properties of the builders, only Rs 18 crore from their bank accounts were frozen. The procedures to attach other properties has not yet started.

Kochi: The Crime Branch has frozen Rs 18 crore in the bank accounts of the builders of Maradu flats. The crime branch officials will give letter to the registration department and revenue department requesting to attach all properties of the flat builders.

After the supreme court ordered to attach the properties of the builders, only Rs 18 crore from their bank accounts were frozen. The procedures to attach other properties is yet to start.

In order to initiate the procedures, crime branch has requested the Registration IG and Revenue Commissioner to provide details of the properties of the builders across the state. They are also moving to attach the properties of other companies involved in the flat construction.

Crime branch has collected details of about 200 bank accounts of the builders. Crime Branch has decided to charge case against the builders of Golden Kayaloram flats which escaped from legal procedures as there are no complaints against them.

No case was charged against them as no complaints were filed despite the supreme court order to demolish the flats. The crime branch is planning to review the decision.
