Kozhikode: The crime branch arrested Birju, 53, the man who was involved in the double murder case in Kozhikode. Birju was involved in the murder of Ismail, the goon whom he hired to murder his mother. Investigation of the case in which body parts of an unidentified person was found scattered all over Kozhikode led to the unfolding of a double murder case. Birju killed Ismail when he came demanding money in the killing of Birju’s mother.
Ismail’s body parts were found from different parts of Kozhikode in 2017. The investigation led to Birju as the police closed in on every one who was close to Ismail. The court has remanded the accused for seven days in the custody of the police. The double murder case was revealed after Birju was interrogated, said crime branch ADGP Tomin Thachankary.
Birju’s mother Jayavalli was murdered in 2016 by Ismail with the help of Birju. She was then hanged on a ceiling fan to make it appear as a suicide. When Ismail asked for his payment for the murder, Birju strangled him to death after treating him with liquor. His body was then cut into pieces using surgical blades and then thrown at different parts of Kozhikode.
