Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint was lodged against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for allegedly disclosing the name of the child’s mother in the child abuse inside a theatre at Edappal. Youth Congress state secretary Siddiq Panthavoor has lodged a complaint with DGP over the issue.
The complaint says that Chief Minister disclosed name of the child’s mother while responding to the opposition in the State Assembly.
“Revealing name of the girl’s mother would disclose the identity of the victim. Disclosing identity of the victim in child abuse case is also regarded as an offence under POCSO act,” noted the complaint.
A 10-year-old girl was subjected to sexual abuse inside a theatre in Edappal at Malappuram on April 18. Police had arrested Thrithala native Moidheen Kutty (60) based on the CCTV visuals in the theatre. A case under POCSO act was charged against the mother because it was clear from the visuals that she did not stop the man from abusing the child despite being aware of the incident. Even though the theatre owner filed a complaint with the police through child line, a case was not registered against accused Moideenkutty initially.
Later, the visuals were made public by Mathrubhumi News.
