Crack down on goons: Kerala Police arrest several; many under preventive detention

Thiruvananthapuram: Police action against history sheeters in Kerala under the department’s ‘Operation Aag’ is continuing. Police have captured 2,507 goons from different districts and have registered cases against them.

Inspections were carried out in 3,501 locations and registered 1,673 cases since Saturday.

As many as 63 people have been arrested by the officials in the Thiruvananthapuram City area alone. Apart from this, police have arrested 270 people from Thiruvananthapuram Rural.

In Kottayam, over 133 people, including five who were externed under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA), have been put under preventive detention.

The police action is expected to be extended to other districts in the coming days.
