Crack found in Kollam-Chennai express coach, train resumes journey after detaching bogie

Kollam: A major tragedy was averted on Sunday after railway officials identified a crack in one of the coaches of the Kollam-Chennai Egmore Express. The officials found the crack when the train reached Sengottai railway station.

The crack was noticed during an inspection at the station. The railway staff detected a large crack under the chassis above the wheels of the S-3 Coach. Soon, authorities were alerted.

The train resumed journey after officials shifted passengers to other coaches, and the damaged bogie was detached. A separate coach was added when the train reached Madurai.
