Kochi: A discernible crack was spotted about 8 feet atop Kochi Metro’s pillar number 44 near Aluva bypass. According to local residents, the crack, which was detected a few months back, has widened over time.

The people have demanded the metro authorities to inspect the area and take necessary action to resolve public concern over the issue.

Meanwhile, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) officials said the crack was detected six months ago and it does not pose any threat to the pillar’s structural stability.

“The crack has been inspected and the strength of the pillar has been ensured,” KMRL public relations officer told mathrubhumi.com.
