Kozhikode: A section of CPM members raised opposition against the move to appoint Chintha Jerome as the state president of DYFI. Recently, Chintha was selected to the state committee of CPM. Pointing out this, some members in the party criticised the decision to grant dual positions to the same person one after another.

Though many opined that giving the position of DYFI state president to a woman will benefit the party, they are dismayed in granting double promotion to Chintha. The demand to accord Chintha, who is the chairperson of Kerala State Youth Commission with the charge of DYFI president was already raised in the party.

However, the DYFI leadership suggested the name of the current state secretariat member V Vaseef as the president at the DYFI state secretariat fraction meet. If the party approves the proposal of DYFI, Vaseef will be selected as the president instead of Chintha. Otherwise, Vaseef will be considered for the post of secretary. The present secretary VK Sanoj has also occupied the list of possible candidates.
