Thiruvananthapuram: Fisheries Minister J Mercykutty Amma said that CPM will not safeguard Binoy Kodiyeri in the rape case. Speaking to media here, she said that those who committed the crime will be punished.
“If the police have received a complaint, let them investigate and take proper action. Nobody in the party will interfere. Those who have committed the crime will have to pay for that and the party has no responsibility,” she added.
Stating that the matter would not affect the image of CPM, Mercykutty Amma said that it was clarified by party leaders, including members of the politburo and state committee. “It is baseless if someone is trying to turn the case into an issue against CPM in Kerala. Whoever committed the crime will be punished, no doubt,” she added.
A Bihari woman, who used to work in a dance bar in Dubai, had filed the rape and sexual assault complaint against Binoy Kodiyeri, son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The woman alleged that she was sexually exploited for several years on promise of marriage. The woman also alleged that she has an eight-year-old child in the relationship.
