Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi's youth conference in Kochi, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to organise a massive political event in Thiruvananthapuram. During a state secretariat meeting held on Wednesday, it was decided that a youth rally, to be held under the banner of the party or Democratic Youth Federation of India, will take place in Thiruvananthapuram with the attendance of senior leaders, including chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Modi's event, organised by Vibrant Youth for Modifying Kerala (VYMK) in association with Youth 20 (Y20), an official consultation forum for youth from all G20 member countries, is expected to be attended by notable figures such as Kannada actors Yash (KGF) and Rishab Shetty (Kantara), cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, and director Priyadarshan. It is estimated that around one lakh youth aged between 18 and 35, including techies, students, and entrepreneurs, will participate in the conference, the organisers claimed.
While the youth conference in Kochi is scheduled for April 25 and is not explicitly a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) event, it is seen to have political purposes. The CPM rally, on the other hand, is planned for either April 23 or 24, with the venue yet to be determined and the participation of national leaders yet to be decided.
