Kollam: The CPM has directed its party workers to convene meetings of devotees within the limit of every local committees ahead of the local body polls. Meetings of Devaswom staff and temple and mosque committee members will be convened separately. Those who work with private temples also will be part of the meeting.
The CPM leadership believe that these meetings will help bring back the devotees who have distanced from the party following the Sabarimala women entry controversies. The meetings will explain the difficulties faced by temple staff and pensioners after the Sangh Parivar urged people not to put money in the hundis in temples.
The assistance provided by the state government to the Devaswom board and private temples also will be discussed. CPM also asked its units to convince the Christian and Muslim devotees about the importance of including secular members in their institutions and worship centres.
Apart from this, meetings of Anganwadi staff, Asha workers, Kudumbashree members, deposit collection agents also will be called. The date and time of these meetings will be fixed by the area and local committees. The state committee has directed to complete all these meetings prior to November 10.
