Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has decided to allot more seats to new allies in LDF in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The party also decided not to take over more seats from other allies. A decision regarding this was taken at the CPM secretariat meeting here on Saturday.
Discussions for selecting candidates will be carried out from March 1 onwards. The party's state committee meeting will be held on March 4 and 5. The CPM state secretariat has decided to select Assembly poll candidates by March 10.
Meanwhile, the second phase of bilateral meetings with LDF allies is likely to begin on Tuesday or Wednesday. CPM has decided that more seats will not be taken from other allies including CPI.
At the same time, more seats of Janadhipathya Kerala Congress are likely to be taken over by CPM. Most of the seats allotted to the new allies in LDF, the Kerala Congress Jose K Mani faction and LJD, is likely to be from CPM's account.
Hence, it is learned that the CPM will have to compromise over 8 or 9 seats. In the last Assembly polls, the CPM had contested 92 seats.
