Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state leadership has intervened amid agitation of the pro-left KSEB officers’ association against the KSEB chairman. The intervention is to settle the issues between the two entities.
In this regard, electricity minister K Krishnankutty has informed that issues can be resolved during the discussion scheduled for April 12. Notably, KSEB chairman B Ashok has also informed that matters can be discussed during the meeting. Krishnankutty will listen to the chairman, Director Board members and the association.
The state leadership of CPM intervened as the stand-off escalated and in the wake of the association’s call for an indefinite sit-in strike in front of Vydhuthi Bhavan. Former minister AK Balan who had handled portfolios including electricity had a talk with Krishnankutty. The seemingly high-handed decisions of the Board including the suspension of individuals who organised protests raised the eyebrows of individuals in CPM leadership.
Meanwhile, the stand-off erupted over the suspension of the executive engineer Jasmin Banu. However, the High Court ordered that the person need not have to be in suspension.
MG Sureshkumar (president) and B Harikumar (secretary) of the association were suspended for barging into the chairman’s conference and raising allegations. The board had decided to take stringent action against 20 other officials for the same.
