Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the opposition's calls for Chief Minister's resignation over Swapna Suresh’s revelations, CPM has issued a statement rubbishing the allegations. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that the people of Kerala will reject Swapna’s fabricated story which presented as new revelations.
“ Similar allegations were raised against the CM during the last elections. Such fake stories are being circulated as part of the political agenda,” said Kodiyeri in his statement.
“People will ignore the allegations as an old wine in a new bottle,” he added.
The CPM also alleged that Swapna Suresh is making false allegations against the CM as attempts to trap the government by using central agencies were a failure.
Swapna Suresh who was at Kochi, revealed on Tuesday that she has given a statement under section 164 of the CrPC and in it she has clearly talked about the role of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his wife Kamala, their daughter Veena, M Sivasankar (former IT secretary), Nalini Netto (former Chief secretary), his secretary C.M. Ravindran and K.T. Jaleel (former State Minister and present legislator) in the gold smuggling case.
Strongly reacting to the allegations, the Chief Minister, in a statement, said "unsubstantiated allegations have been made through the media from some quarters for narrow political reasons" and this was "part of some political agenda".
"Such agenda was rejected by the people earlier. After a break, the old things are repeated by the accused in the case. There is not even a shred of fact in it", Vijayan said.
