Thiruvananthapuram: The organisers of the Mega Thiruvathirakali held as part of the CPM Thiruvananthapuram district conference, apologised for the lyrics of the song and the day selected for conducting the programme. S Ajayan, the convener of the programme issued an apology regarding the same while delivering vote of thanks at the delegates' meet of the district conference.

The Mega Thiruvathira was held on the day of SFI activist Dheeraj Raveendran who was killed in Idukki college campus was cremated in Kannur. Moreover, the lyrics of the Thiruvathira song praising Pinarayi Vijayan were widely criticised. Ajayan apologised saying that he regrets for hurting the sentiments of his comrades.
