CPM offers full support to CM, govt; Oppn has political intentions, says Kodiyeri
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that the government and the party have nothing to hide in connection with the gold smuggling case. CPM will fully support the chief minister and the government, he made it clear. He was addressing the media after the CPM state secretariat meeting held to discuss the gold smuggling case.
The opposition is trying to drag the CM's office into controversy intentionally. Some people are trying to compare the gold smuggling case with solar case. But in solar case, the then chief minister and ministers were facing allegation. In the contrary, no allegation is raised against the chief minister now. The opposition were trying to blame the CM's office. But we could prove that the chief minister and his office were not involved in the issue, Kodiyeri said.
Sivasankar was removed from the position as soon as allegations arose. The investigating agencies did not submit any report pointing out involvement of Sivasankar. Even then the government took action. But the opposition continued to blame the chief minister. They had to stop as soon as Sivasankar was suspended, Kodiyeri added.
Both Congress and BJP have political intentions in the case. BJP has clearly stated that they want to dissolve the government. Congress and Muslim League also are supporting the BJP's protest. It was a BMS leader who called to get back the smuggled gold. People will realise the intention of the opposition to change the issue into an anti-government campaign, Kodiyeri said.
The Customs took a brave step in the smuggling case. The case became more serious after NIA started the probe. The people will reject the no-confidence motion and the government will continue. A door-to-door campaign will be started from the first week of August adhering to COVID protocol. The party is trying to eliminate fake campaigns, Kodiyeri made it clear.
