Kozhikode: Despite protests by party members, CPM is unlikely to demand the Kuttiyadi seat back from Kerala Congress (M) Jose K Mani faction. CPM will take over the seat if Jose voluntarily hands it over. But the Thiruvambadi seat will not be given to Jose faction in exchange of Kuttiyadi.

Talks in this regard will be held on Thursday between CPM leadership and Jose faction.

According to the Kerala Congress (M) regional leaders in Kuttiyadi, there is no favourable situation where their candidate can even enter the constituency. Without the help of CPM, the situation is unlikely to change. They anticipate setback if the atmosphere in the constituency is not taken into account.

CPM will also try to resolve the issue amicably. However, the party will not officially demand the seat back or offer Thiruvambadi seat in exchange.

If Jose K Mani doesn’t offer the seat to CPM, he has no choice but to agree with a candidate as decided by CPM, who is acceptable to all. Muhammad Iqbal of Kerala Congress (M), who is the probable candidate in Kuttiyadi, is also of the stance that the party should make a decision and he will accept it.
