CPM leader quits party to join Congress in Wayanad


Earlier, E A Sankaran had put up a Facebook post stating that he quit CPM after I C Balakrishnan promised to field him in Sultan Bathery as Congress candidate.

Kalpetta: Pro-CPM tribal outfit Adivasi Kshema Samithi (AKS) state secretary E A Sankaran resigned from the party and joined Congress. Sankaran is also the national vice chairman of Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch, a feeder organisation of CPM, and CPM Pulpally area committee member.

Sankaran was the LDF candidate in Sultan Bathery constituency in 2011 assembly election. Earlier, E A Sankaran had put up a Facebook post stating that he quit CPM after I C Balakrishnan promised to field him in Sultan Bathery as Congress candidate. However, he later denied writing the post.

Meanwhile, CPM district committee informed that Pulpally area committee member E A Sankaran was ousted from the party for indulging in anti-party activities. Earlier, Sankaran had joined CPM after quitting Congress.

Sankaran was given many posts in the party within a short span of time. The district committee stated that Sankaran betrayed the party due to his opportunist policies and greed for power.
