Alappuzha: A local CPM leader entered into a verbal spat and threatened a police officer on duty in Kayamkulam. Cheravally local committee member Ashkar Nambalassery has been accused of obstructing the cop from discharging his duty. The visuals of Ashkar talking with the police officer aggressively surfaced now.

An event with Minister for General Education V Sivankutty as the chief guest was held in Alappuzha two days back. Police had regulated traffic near the venue in view of the minister’s visit. Ashkar was stopped when he was heading to attend the event on his bike. “How can you stop a party worker?” Ashkar seemed to yell at the cop in the video. Soon police questioned him for not wearing a helmet, sparking a verbal clash between the police and Ashkar.

Following this incident, Ashkar put a Facebook post accusing the police of disrupting the programme held under the minister.
