Alappuzha: CPM expelled Alappuzha south area centre member AP Sona from the party for allegedly capturing obscene visuals of women on his mobile phone. The accused member has been dismissed from the party following the district committee finding his actions violating decency of the party.
A commission comprising district secretariat members A Mahendran and G Rajamma had conducted a probe as per the advice of CPM state secretary MV Govindan. The action has been taken based on the report submitted by the commission.
A few party members in the district secretariat raised allegations against AP Sona at a meeting held on Saturday in the presence of state leaders. Later, the videos submitted by the complainants were examined by the district secretary R Nazar, secretariat members G Venugopal, G Harishankar, KH Babujan and P Chitharanjan MLA. Soon the leaders decided to expel the accused immediately from the party.
The accused recorded the videos of women colleagues and family members without their knowledge, said the leaders. He has captured nude visuals of women and made conversations with sexual tone even from the party office.
The investigation commission collected evidence from 30 persons and obtained 34 videos which confirm the allegations raised against the accused.
The visuals in Sona’s mobile phone surfaced when he attempted to molest a minor girl in the coastal region and locals rushed to the spot hearing her scream. The visuals were found when the locals caught him and checked his phone to know whether he had captured visuals of the girl. Later, the girl’s mother filed a complaint against Sona to the state secretary MV Govindan.
Sona was removed from all party events and position of Kuthirapanthy area secretary soon after receiving the complaint. He was also expelled from the position of the area secretary of CITU.
