Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Friday criticized the new guidelines issued by the state for curbing covid-19 spread and said they were rolled out to hold CPM conventions in two districts without interruption. He alleged that such decisions pertaining to the covid restrictions are now being determined at the AKG Center.

Thrissur and Kasaragod were not even included in Category A, B or C so as to hold conferences without any restrictions. If TPR is considered, the restrictions in these districts should be strictly enforced. He criticized the health department for being stagnant and not doing anything to tackle the issue.

He pointed out that CPM hosting party conferences with around 300 to 500 delegates will only result in the covid-19 cases increasing in the state. Satheesan alleged that delegates, including ministers, have freely roamed in public despite testing positive for covid-19.

Changing the covid norms for the benefit of a party will not happen anywhere in India except in Kerala. The CPM is showing unnecessary arrogance from their part, he added.
