Thiruvananthapuram: CPM Kerala state secretariat called for ending attempts by some forces to incite violence at Vizhinjam. The party said the incidents that took place at Vizhinjam on Sunday were serious and condemnable. It also stated that efforts were being made to create conflict in the coastal area by inciting violence in the name of protests.
The party said these forces were trying to take the rule of law into their own hands and incite violence in the coastal area. The state government should take strict action against these people, it added.
Continuous efforts were being made to damage the projects implemented by the Kerala government for the development of the state. Despite opposition, the state government has been successful in implementing projects like national highway development and GAIL pipeline, the party stated.
The CPM further said that the Vizhinjam port project was important for the development of the state. The state government had resolved the concerns among the fishermen that had arisen earlier through discussions. It also took measures to hold talks and resolve the issues raised by the small sections that are currently protesting. However, some people with vested interests stood in the way, it added.
