CPM communalising gold smuggling case in name of holy Quran: BJP
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP on Friday slammed CPM and alleged that they were trying to communalize the gold smuggling case in the name of holy Quran. BJP state president K Surendran alleged that KT Jaleel insulted and disgraced Quran and resorted to gold smuggling in the backdrop of the holy text.
Surendran was responding to CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s question whether importing Quran was illegal.
CPM is projecting Jaleel as a religious icon. The government and CPM are trying to gain benefit by creating communal separation in the state. This communal politics will hunt the party down. It is embarrassing how Jaleel is playing the victim card after NIA interrogation, Surendran alleged.
It is baseless to say that Jaleel is a mere witness in the gold smuggling case. No agency probing the case has given a clean chit to Jaleel. He could be summoned anytime by anyone. However, the party is trying to hide these details and provide martyrdom to Jaleel, he further alleged.
The BJP leader also criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and said he is trying to impose emergency in the state by suppressing the opposition and media.
Pinarayi Vijayan is being hunted down by Kim Jong Un’s spirit. Public will always protest against this, he added.
