Kilimanoor (Thiruvananthapuram): The Kollam CPM district committee has built a new home for veteran Communist leader PK Gurudas and family at Pedikulam in Pulimath panchayat.

The 77-year-old leader and his wife shifted from AKG Apartments to their newly built home ‘Pournami’ on Thursday.

The leader had asked for a small house with two bedrooms to spend the rest of his life. However, the party has constructed a 1760 sq ft 3BHK house on 10 cents of land, owned by his wife.

Reportedly, the party had mobilised Rs 35 lakh from senior members across the district for the initiative.

The construction activities were directly monitored by leaders KN Balagopal, Rajagopal and Kollayil Sudevan.

Many leaders and activists, including CPM state secretary MV Govindan, took part in the house warming ceremony.
