The campaign of CPM is aimed at creating a divide between Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities in the state. They plan to get a few votes through this, but everything will be in vain, Chennithala pointed out.

Kozhikode: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala stated that both the RSS and CPM were trying to attack him and that both parties were trying to destroy his credibility. He was talking to Mathrubhumi.com on the sidelines of the 'Aishwarya Kerala Yatra'.

"Both RSS and CPM are acting mercilessly towards me. CPM and BJP are trying to weaken Congress by character assassinating me and my family. But the people of Kerala know me well. My life is an open book," Chennithala said.

The Opposition leader said that the religious remarks made by CPM against Muslim League will be a setback for them. CPM is trying to alienate Muslim League from other parties and communities. But this is an attempt to spread religious hatred. Such fake campaigns won't be good for the state, he added.

Reacting to the reports on Shashi Tharoor's candidature in Nemom, Chennithala said that the final decision regarding seat allocation is yet to be made. "We are planning to field the best candidates in Nemom and other constituencies. Shashi Tharoor is a good parliamentarian and he will win from any seat. He is a global citizen, Chennithala said.

Ramesh Chennithala also hinted that UDF is likely to make surprising moves in Assembly polls just as they did in the parliament election. Party's national leader Rahul Gandhi had contested from Wayanad in Lok Sabha polls and MLAs K Muraleedharan, Adoor Prakash and Hibi Eden also were fielded.
