CPM area committee passes resolution against slapping of UAPA
Kozhikode: CPM area committee has brought out a resolution against slapping UAPA on 2 of its party workers and arresting them. The resolution issued by the CPM Kozhikode south area committee states that there is no need to arrest the 2 college students for possessing and distributing pamphlets and write-ups on Maoists and the action to hinder the democratic rights is not right.
The resolution was passed at a meeting attended by the district committee member T P Dasan. The resolution wanted the UAPA to be withdrawn. It said that slapping UAPA for possessing write-ups or pamphlets is wrong and is undemocratic.
The CPM district committee has also come out against slapping UAPA on the 2 CPM workers the other day saying it was done in haste.
CPM district secretary P Mohanan told Mathrubhumi News that the government itself will examine the matter. The CPM district committee had made its stance clear the other day itself. And following that, the area committee too has brought out a resolution against this, Mohanan said.
