Thiruvananthapuram: Soon after the Vigilance raid at the Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) sparked a controversy, CPM leaders have taken a stand against Raman Srivastava, police adviser of the chief minister.
Within 4 years of the government, many actions were taken by the Home Department which put both the CPM and the government on the defensive. There is a general feeling among CPM workers that CM’s police adviser Raman Srivastava is behind all these moves.
Finance minister Thomas Isaac and veteran party leader Anathalavattom Anandan had come up publicly against Srivastava the other day. The leaders assume that there was conspiracy behind the raid at KSFE without even informing the chief minister.
The party leaders have found out that Srivastava is acting as the adviser of a private financial company. He was working in this post before being appointed as police adviser and is currently serving the company, as mentioned in the company website. So, he initiated the raid with vested interests in order to tarnish the image of KSFE, the leaders observed.
CPM also suspects a conspiracy behind this move in order to validate the actions by Enforcement Directorate (ED). It is notable that the raid was carried out when the Vigilance Director was on leave. CPI leaders also questioned the action of Raman Srivastava.
Srivastava’s role in introducing the amendment to the Police Act also had come to light. The chief minister also admitted that the police adviser made a mistake in this matter. However, the raid was carried out in KSFE soon after this controversy ended.
