CPM activist attacked for voicing against drug peddling, suspect’s house set on fire 


Vattiyoorkavu: A CPM activist who worked against drug peddling was hacked in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday night. CPM Manalayam branch member Santhosh (Raji Mon) was attacked on his head.

Following this incident, an anonymous gang attacked and set fire the house of the suspect. The suspect was staying alone and locals alleged that strangers used to visit his house to purchase and consume psychotropic drugs.

Police informed that Manalayam native Maneesh would have assaulted Santhosh. Currently, a case pertaining to drug dealing exists against Maneesh, said Vattiyoorkavu police.

A group of men attacked the house of Maneesh the same night when Santhosh was assaulted. The gang smashed the window panes and set fire to the house.

Santhosh had raised his voice against the drug peddling thatwas happening at Maneesh’s house. Police informed that a case has been registered against Maneesh and he is on the run.
