CPI to give Kanjirappally, Irikkur seats to Kerala Congress
Kottayam: CPI will surrender Kanjirappally and Irikkur seats to Kerala Congress. The party has taken stance as LDF eyes to retain power in the upcoming assembly polls.
CPI leadership has observed that Jose K Mani’s candidacy will help LDF obtain more votes in central Travancore. Hence, the party has decided not to take a stubborn stand on Kanjirappally seat.
So, CPI has asked for Changanassery seat instead of Kanjirappally. But Jose K Mani is not ready to surrender Changanassery seat as his party holds power there for a long time.
Jose K Mani is considering Kerala Congress high-level committee member Job Michael and youth leader Vijay Jose for Changanassery seat.
It is learned that many discussions should be carried out over Changanassery seat as Jandhipathya Kerala Congress contested from this seat in the last polls.
CPI has been considering names of Adv. Madhavan Pillai, district secretary CK Sasidharan for Changanassery. Apart from this, CPI has agreed to surrender Irikkur seat for Kerala Congress. One of the seats among Eranad and Tirurangadi will be also given to Kerala Congress.
With this, the number of seats to CPI will come down to 25 in this assembly polls.
