Thiruvananthapuram: Delegates attending the CPI district conference here on Saturday raised a sharp criticism against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over his luxurious lifestyle. CPI members pointed out that the chief minister's convoy of 42 vehicles is a "luxury" and Pinarayi Vijayan is no more the face of the left front.

Members of CPI, a major ally of LDF also voiced their disgust over CPM taking over departments given to CPI.

"The escort of 42 vehicles to Pinarayi Vijayan is an extravagance. As a result, CM is alienated from the people," pointed out CPI.

The delegates also voiced disapproval over LDF convener EP Jayarajan in the wake of his recent controversy surrounding IndiGo airlines.

CPI also expressed concern over the party failing to take action against the environmental crisis in the state. Earlier, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran was also criticized by delegates for his "mild" reaction to MM Mani's remarks against CPI leader Annie Raja for her criticism of him. It was noted that Kanam failed to "correct" the CPM leader when he openly slammed a senior CPI leader.
