Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state conference has been witnessing dramatic scenes on Monday, the last day of the three-day event.

Leaders like former legislator ES Bijimol and legislator GS Jayalal could not make it to the list prepared by the district committees for the state council. Bijimol was also excluded from the party congress representatives' list. She had contested for the district secretary post against the 'official' nominee.

The new development emerges after reports on the dropping of veteran and former minister C Divakaran from the state council over age criteria.

Meanwhile, in the elections held, prominent leaders like P Raju, NN Sugathan, MT Nixon and TC Sanjith tasted defeat. They will also not make it to the state council, it is learnt.

It may be noted there were speculations that factionalism will be reflected in the state conference. Unsurprisingly, this has been corroborated from the flag hoisting incident to the latest developments.
