Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran condemned the Chairman and Managing Director of KSRTC for criticising the restrictions imposed by the state government in the time of Covid 19. The stance of Biju Prabhakar, who is also the transport secretary should be observed as a grave disciplinary violation, noted Kanam Rajendran.
Kanam asserted that the government should consider expelling Biju Prabhakar from his current position. CPI will inform its stand to the government, instead of filing a petition to the minister, said Kanam.
KSRTC CMD Biju Prabhakar criticised the central and state governments for not taking up strategies to strengthen public transport. He was attending the 22nd state conference of KSTA Sangh under Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Biju Prabhakar alleged that discussions are proceeding only for launching metro projects, instead of supporting public transport which aids at least 20 lakh passengers.
Kanam said that the LDF has always been opposing the privatisation policies of the central government. Even the BMS has been forced to take a stance against privatisation. In this circumstance, the public opinion of a government official recommending privatisation as the sole solution for the distress in the transport sector could be considered a disciplinary violation, said Kanam.
