CPI office in Palakkad vandalised; Kerala on boil
Palakkad: Widespread protests were reported in Palakkad on harthal day declared by Sabarimala Karma Samithi on Thursday. Protestors completely destroyed a CPI office. Police are trying to remove protestors from the spot. Many vehicles were also damaged by the attackers.
A number of BJP activists were taken into custody from the protest venue. Earlier, trouble broke out between police and protestors near Victoria College in Palakkad. Despite attempts to contain the protests, a tense situation prevailed in several parts of the district.
Attack on Andhra devotees at Nilakkal
Meanwhile, protestors did not spare other state devotees too. They pelted stones at a bus which carried natives of Andhra Pradesh to Sabarimala. The attack occurred at the parking area of Nilakkal. The agitators became furious on seeing young women in the bus. The protestors were identified as natives of Tamil Nadu.
The attackers blocked the bus at a parking station and a verbal duel occurred among them and the passengers. Amidst this, they pelted stones at the bus.
Following this, police reached the spot and took the situation under control. The protestors retreated as the women clarified they didn’t come for darshan and was waiting for those who went to the temple. Police have registered a case against identifiable people.
