CPI not a tool to punish LDF, says Kanam Rajendran
Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendranaccused the Congress of trying to weaken the LDF government by joining hands with BJP. He also accused opposition party workers of violating COVID protocols during protests. However, CPI will continue to strengthen the Left Democratic Front, he added.
Kanam Rajendran stated that there could be differences of opinion between parties within the alliance but CPI is working towards strengthening the alliance. CPI is not a tool to punish LDF. CPI is an integral part of the Front. When the government changes its stance on certain policy-related issues, CPI will openly criticise it. But it does not mean that the party has waged a war against the government.
He alleged that BJP is trying to implement autocracy in the country by destroying parliamentary democracy using its majority. The Centre is passing all the laws in the Parliament without consulting the states. Kanam asked which would the opposition parties prefer, a fight against the autocratic rule at the Centre or the LDF government in the state.
He also responded to the questions from the media regarding the gold smuggling case. He said that Sivasankar was suspended from the Chief Minister's office after it was found that he had a relationship with Swapna Suresh, an accused in the case. He added that Minister KT Jaleel will have to explain why attended went to the NIA office secretly.
