CPI-League clash: Mannarkkad Municipal Councilor’s son stabbed to death
Mannarkkad: A youth has been stabbed to death following a conflict between CPI and Muslim League workers. Kunthippuzha native Safeer (23), son of Mannarkkad Municipality Councillor Varodan Sirajuddheen, was killed in the clash. The incident took place in a textile shop at Kodathippadi on Sunday by 9 pm.
Safeer was deeply injured in the attack and was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Vattambalam, but his life could not be saved. The three persons who attacked Safeer escaped from the scene after stabbing him. The incident is said to be a follow-up of the political dispute that existed in Kunthippuzha. Safeer was a Youth League and MSF activist.
A conflict existed between CPI and League with regard to a fish market in Kunthippuzha. Earlier, Sirajuddhen’s residence was attacked with an explosive. As per the primary information, three persons from Kunthippuzha Nambiyankunnu are involved in the incident.
Tension is prevailing in the region and the traffic on the national highway was disrupted. Police have arranged tight security there. The body of Safeer is kept in the mortuary of a private hospital in Vattambalam. Safeer’s mother is Fathima, and his siblings are Muneer and Sahla.
