Idukki: CPI Idukki district secretary, KK Sivaraman, on Monday, said that there were serious lapses on the part of KSEB in the controversial land lease in Ponmudi. He pointed out that proper discussions and consultations were not held during the land acquisition related to Hydel Tourism.

He told Mathrubhumi News that the issue is a serious matter of concern.

" As per the report of the tehsildar, the land leased by KSEB to Rajakkad Service Co-operative Society was identified as Poramboke land. The land was leased without realising the seriousness of the matter. I have no opinion that everything that happened is wrong. The decision should have been made in consultation with others. If the land given to KSEB for their purpose is not utilised, it should be returned to the Revenue Department," he said.

Earlier, the CPM has come out with a strong stance when the opposition parties, including Congress, raised the issue of Ponmudi land transfer. Meanwhile, a legal notice will be issued soon for the inspection of 21 acres of land handed over by KSEB for Hydel Tourism. Meantime, the revenue officials who visited the area last Saturday were sent back by the bank president.
