COVID Third in Kerala: Omicron detected in 94 pc of cases


Only 3.6 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals, hence, there is a decline in the usage of ICUs and ventilators in the wake of the Covid outbreak.

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George informed that Omicron variant is the dominant variant of COVID-19 in Kerala. About 94 per cent of the samples tested so far are found Omicron positive and only six per cent of cases are delta variant.

Only 3.6 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals. Hence, there is a decline in the usage of ICUs and ventilators following the COVID-19 spike, informed the minister.

The minister also added that ICU usage for Covid patients also come down by two per cent.

A monitoring cell has been set up at the office of the health minister.
